Information on Probate

First when learning any subject, one must learn the terminology (i.e. Probate court terms). Probate requires the student to learn about the Probate Court Forms, and the Court Rules. Next you must learn about the local Los Angeles Superior Probate Court and its organization. more specifically the Probate Court Rules of the Los Angeles Superior Court which is located in Chapter 10 (chapter 10 - part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 and part 5- the probate appendix).


In Law 11 - Civil Litigation - you will learn about Jurisdiction and Venue. Jurisdiction is whether the court has the power to decide a case, and Venue is the appropriate location to file a case. Look at the Filing Court Locator which will help you determine in which court to file your action. Here is how to contact the courts.

Note in Probate Law - there are summary or non-probate procedures which allows parties to proceed without a formal probate action. Generally probate cases start with as will. Here is a good place to start your research on probate matters.
